Keto hamburger buns have a wonder bread consistency, some people call it cloud bread and they make a great hamburger or hotdog bun. Personally, I like lettuce wrapped burgers even more, but lots of people don’t think a hamburger is complete if it doesn’t have a bun. Hotdogs especially go well with a bun, but I like hotdogs with cooked cabbage and sauerkraut just as much. Enjoy these Keto hamburger buns to compliment your back yard barbecue, on the 4th of July, or whenever you have the desire to fire up the grill. These buns are grain free, gluten free, low carb and sugar free. Enjoy them without spiking your blood sugar so you can still stay in ketosis with these keto hamburger buns.
Keto Hamburger Buns Recipe
- Servings: 3 buns
- Difficulty: medium
Ingredients
- 3 eggs separated yolks and whites
- 1/4 tsp cream of tarter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 ounces cream cheese
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Directions
- With an electric mixer, whip the egg whites with the cream of tarter a long time until stiff peaks form and you can turn the bowl over without the whip falling out.
- Whip together the yolks, salt and cream cheese separately and then fold into the whites until incorporated.
- Take an ice cream scoop and scoop the whipped mixture into 6 mounds onto a parchment lined baking sheet then sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes until golden. I use one on top and one on bottom of my burger. You can scoop into long hotdog bun shapes for hotdogs as well.
